A series of 5 FREE writing workshops are about to take place at Canolfan Maerdy in Tairgwaith. The course will help participants to transform their memories, anecdotes, newscuttings and photographs into a book about the Amman & Swansea Valleys area, which it is hoped will be published by Christmas.
The project, Stories of Change, is a collaboration between Canolfan Maerdy and the University of South Wales’s George Ewart Centre for Storytelling. During the workshops, there will be fun, informal exercises to help people tap into their memories and explore their connections with the area. The group will write their stories in whatever form they choose: poetry, prose, script or flash fiction. No previous writing experience is necessary, just enthusiasm and a willingness to share stories.
The workshops are FREE and are taking place at Canolfan Maerdy, New Road, Tairgwaith, Ammanford, SA18 1UP. Refreshments will also be provided. The dates are:
Thurs 1st October 12.30-3pm
