The SA1 Community Wind Turbine, located in Swansea docks, generates renewable energy which is sold to the grid. It was erected in 2006 and is managed for community benefit with profits going towards local community projects. The Eastside Energy Scheme, administered by the Environment Centre, is funded through the community wind turbine and has included a fridge and freezer swap scheme – replacing inefficient units with free new efficient models in households in nearby communities.
